St. Andrew's Episcopal School is seeking a Kindergarten-8th Grade Physical Education Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. This position is full-time and will work under the direct supervision of our Director of Athletics and Physical Education.
The successful candidate will also be a coach or assistant coach for at least two athletic seasons. Under the direction of the AD/PE Department Chair, successful candidates will: •Plan and instruct physical education classes for grades K-8, focusing on physical fitness, health education, and team/dual/individual sports instruction •Create a positive learning environment that fosters engagement, relationship building, leadership, and joy in movement, •Collaborate and work effectively with the PE/Athletic Department, •Develop and utilize assessment methods for measuring growth and achievement in physical education and strength & conditioning, •Organize and maintain sports equipment, athletic uniforms, the gymnasium facility, and the playing fields, •Chaperone students on school trips including overnight stays, and •Participate in the life of the school and be responsible for other duties as assigned by the division head and/or the AD/PE Department Chair.
Preference will be given to PE teachers with coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
A degree in physical education or a closely related field
Organizational and self-management skills; ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively
Great interpersonal and communication skills, both with students and fellow faculty/coaches
Dependable, ready to go above and beyond when necessary to reach goals
Leadership and team management skills
