Associate Director of Development, Intercollegiate Athletics
The George Mason University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking an energetic professional to serve as Associate Director of Development. The Associate Director of Development will implement and coordinate a comprehensive major gift fundraising program established for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major and planned gifts. The Associate Director will identify and establish rapport with prospective donors in solicitation of major gifts and high-level annual gifts.

Manage a portfolio of 150 major gift ($25,000+) prospective donors, with independent responsibility to develop and execute strategies leading to successful solicitation
Implement and coordinate a comprehensive fundraising program established for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting annual, major and planned gifts for the Patriot Club
Establish a resource network in the community to identify and cultivate donor prospects, including working with volunteers, coaches and other development staff to identify ability and interest areas of major gift prospects
Foster an environment for successful fundraising within the Patriot Club by providing on-going information for athletic leadership and administration regarding fundraising initiatives and by preparing coaches and administrators to participate in cultivation and solicitation activities
Develop, plan, and supervise the production of materials used to communicate with fundraising related constituencies
Plan and stage arrangements for fundraising events for the Patriot Club, to include but not limited to, dedications and special receptions, as assigned
Work on the recruitment, organization, and training of volunteers to raise funds on behalf of the Patriot Club
Coordinate special projects as assigned
Responsible for 240+ face to face visits each year and 24+ proposals of $25,000+ a year
Advanced degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree
Significant experience, minimum of four years successful professional development and/or fundraising related experience, preferably in intercollegiate athletics
Knowledge of principles and techniques of development/fundraising
Demonstrated achievement in securing philanthropic investments
Ability to prepare complex and detailed proposals and related materials
Demonstrated experience in stewardship plans leading to additional investments
