Macalester College, a NCAA Division III of the Midwest Conference seeks to hire a full-time Assistant Football Coach – Offensive Coordinator. This position is responsible for assisting the head coach in all aspects of football program development, including the leadership and implementation of an offensive system, recruitment and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes in a rigorous academic environment, coaching and teaching of student athletes, and additional duties assigned by the head coach.
Practice and Competition- Assists the head coach in the organization, preparation of practices and in conducting safe and strategic individual and team training sessions and competitive strategies. Executes appropriate coaching decisions during practice and competition that ensure the welfare of the student athletes representing their program.
Recruiting- Assists the head coach in the development and incorporation of a comprehensive recruiting plan that shows successful results for the recruitment, yield and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes in a rigorous academic environment. Serves as an effective recruiter for the program working within the parameters of Macalester, MIAC, MWC, and NCAA rules. Recruitment strategy results in healthy roster numbers and a competitive program against scheduled opponents.
Video - Oversee and implement all facets of video production and editing needed for a Division III football program. Utilizes independent judgment and initiative to produce edited game and practice video to members of the coaching staff and players. Manages video library and respond to requests from other coaches for footage.
Game Management- Assists the head coach and game management staff with the preparation and event management needs at home competitive events. Assists in the coordination of special events including recruiting, alumni, the Mac Hac, and student-athlete recognition functions.

Develops a positive, professional relationship with officials, league personnel, and coaching colleagues.
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Sports Medicine, Physical Education, or related field from an accredited institution, Master’s degree preferred.
Knowledge and appreciation of a liberal arts education and an understanding of the role athletics and recreation play in a college committed to academic excellence and cultural diversity.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff, faculty, students, parents and alumni from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work within the framework of Macalester College policies, Midwest Conference regulations, and NCAA Division III philosophy and rules.
Maintains valid and annual certifications in: NCAA Rules test, CPR/AED, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens safety and van driver certification (if applicable).
Proficiency in computer based technology, including excel and word.
Effective teaching methods; excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; and willingness to work on projects with faculty, administrators, and staff.
