Iowa Wesleyan University (IW) is seeking an experienced college football coach to serve as the Defensive Coordinator for its football program. IW currently offers 14 intercollegiate athletic programs and is a member of the NCAA Division III and the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC- Football Only). This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the head football coach.
This position may be combined with other responsibilities depending on the skill set of the candidate.
Defensive Coordinator Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Development and implementation of defensive systems, game plans, and instruction.
With the Head Football Coach, direct and manage defensive assistant coaches.
Assist the head coach in planning and operation of the program.
Assist in monitoring strength and conditioning activities for the football program.
In conjunction with the head football coach, administer the program within the policies of Iowa Wesleyan University, the UMAC and the NCAA.
Advise student-athletes in their major field of study as it relates to NCAA eligibility and progress towards degree requirements.
Support and assist in executing the Head Coach’s recruiting strategy and system through recruitment of prospective student- athletes.
Perform duties as assigned by head coach.

Represent Iowa Wesleyan University and the Athletic Department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity at all times.
Promote and support Iowa Wesleyan University and its mission.
Promote and support Tiger Athletics’ program mission and goals.
Be an active and engaged Tiger Athletics team member willing to assist others in major intercollegiate athletics initiatives such as game day management, team travel needs, and fundraising events. Nights and weekends commitments will be required.
Assist in promotion and public relations activities for Tiger Athletics.
Attend all University-wide meetings (travel, game and practice conflicts are valid absences), all Athletics staff meetings, meetings called by the Athletic Director or Vice President for Enrollment Management, and any Athletics-related workshops.
Serve on institutional committees as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree required
College coaching experience preferred.
Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
Valid US Driver’s License with the ability to be authorized to drive IW fleet vehicles for team transportation to and from away contests required.
Must be available for night and weekend responsibilities.
