Job Purpose Towson University is currently accepting applications for a Head Gymnastics Coach. This position will manage all aspects of a NCAA Division I gymnastics program, including recruiting, coaching, planning practices and competition, scheduling, managing program budgets, etc.
Description The Head Gymnastics Coach will organize, conduct and supervise all aspects of the intercollegiate gymnastics program to include: skill instruction, practices, student-athlete strength & conditioning, competition scheduling, competition preparation and competition day coaching and participate within designated conference and NCAA meetings. Organize, strategize and supervise all aspects of recruitment and evaluation of prospective student-athletes. Provide appropriate leadership, direction and supervision relevant to the academic progress of student-athletes within the gymnastics program.
This position will adhere to all University, conference and NCAA rules and requirements relevant to the overall conduct of the intercollegiate gymnastics program. Provide appropriate leadership to ensure a quality student-athlete experience that develops the Total Tiger through campus and community involvement as well as competition in their sport and academic achievement. Collaborate with Sports Medicine as well as Speed, Strength & Conditioning staffs to ensure health and safety as well as athletic development of student-athletes. Additionally, provide direction and appropriate follow-up to discipline/conduct for the program's student-athletes.
The Head Gymnastics Coach will prepare designated information relevant to budgets, equipment needs, travel advances/reconciliations, prospective student-athlete recruitment records and other program areas. Work with Development staff to establish relationships with alumni and other friends of the program and to identify potential donors to the program. Oversee and assign responsibilities to the assistant coaches, supervise all aspects of their work performances and conduct performance evaluations. Represent the Department of Athletics, and the gymnastics program at specified University, department, media and community functions and events.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree with three years of successful collegiate or professional coaching experience. Proven ability to train and recruit at the Division I collegiate level. Must have the ability to accept and carry out assigned program and responsibilities; to communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni and the community; to pass the NCAA recruiting test and have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations. A demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically is essential. A demonstrated commitment to building a positive team culture. Must be able to work collaboratively within the structure and framework of an Athletics Department and University.
Experience as a Division I student-athlete.
