Lenoir-Rhyne University (Hickory, NC) an NCAA Division II and proud member of the South Atlantic Conference, seeks qualified candidates for its Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field coach vacancy. This position directs the development, organization and management of all phases of both the men’s and women’s cross country/track & field programs. Recruiting, retaining, and graduating qualified student-athletes, as well as applying effective coaching, mentoring techniques, and player development strategies that result in successful competition is the primary purpose in this position.
Duties and tasks include, but not limited to: ·Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student athletes at Lenoir-Rhyne University. ·Direct and coordinate the activities of the both the men’s and women’s cross country/track & field staffs in the planning, organizing and coaching of the Lenoir-Rhyne men’s and women’s cross country/track & field teams; ensure compliance with the university, conference, and NCAA policies and regulations. ·Direct the men’s and women’s cross country/track & field staffs in the preparation of analyses of opposing teams; analyze meet statistics and technical data of opponents and prepare meet plans accordingly. ·Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; consult with University administration and faculty for resolution of problems required. ·Assign geographical areas to and supervise the men’s and women’s cross country/track & field staffs in the strategic recruitment of new players; determine recipients of both the men’s and women’s cross country/track & field scholarships in accordance with University admissions policies. ·Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds. ·Direct various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, merit recommendations, and promotions. ·Study, evaluate, and implement innovations in cross country/track & field strategy and equipment, and facilities. ·Serve as the track and field facility coordinator with the goal of increasing hosting opportunities with local and regional partners. ·Represent the Lenoir-Rhyne University athletic department in professional, civic and alumni events. ·Develop and execute a fundraising strategy in coordination with the Director of the Bears Club to increase revenues to enhance the student-athlete experience. ·Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein, as assigned by University administration, if mutually agreeable.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities include: •Bachelors degree required •Collegiate level coaching experience with a demonstrated understanding of NCAA DII Rules with a preference for head coaching experience •Demonstration of successful collegiate recruiting experience •Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop a culture of excellence •Strong communication skills
