The Athletic Communications and Student-Athlete Leadership Assistant will share time in these two critical areas of the athletic department. The Assistant will work with the Director of Athletic Communications on publicity efforts for the College’s 22-sport Division III varsity intercollegiate program. Primary responsibilities will include:
Typical game-day sports information operations (including management of student staff, facility setup and breakdown, streaming video production, photography, statistical tracking)
Daily office work
Generation of ideas and content for the Muhlenberg Athletics website (www.muhlenbergsports.com) and social media platforms
Creation of departmental publications
Video and photo editing
Travel to away contests as a representative of the College
Other duties as assigned to enhance the coverage and visibility of the College's athletic programs.
As an extension of work in the athletic communications office, the Assistant will work with Muhlenberg's student-athlete advisory committee - M.A.L.T. (Muhlenberg Athletic Leadership Team). The Assistant will serve as a co-advisor in the areas of event marketing, social media and planning. M.A.L.T. represents all facets of the student-athlete experience at Muhlenberg and has created specialized sub-committees to address home game promotions and fan engagement. Primary responsibilities will include:
Oversee M.A.L.T. subcommittees for game promotions and fan engagement
Advise M.A.L.T. on best practices in fan engagement and use of social media
The position will also co-supervise two student-athlete development and marketing interns.
Qualifications include: bachelor’s degree, strong writing and communication skills; knowledge of StatCrew, video streaming software, video editing software, desktop publishing and social media; undergraduate experience in sports information; solid understanding of sports and sports statistics; and a willingness to work nights and weekends.
Experiences preferred, but not required, include: knowledge of a student-athlete advisory committee, student-athlete leadership.
