The Iowa State University Athletics Department is currently accepting applications for two media production specialists to serve as Assistant Directors of Video Production. These positions will assist with the day-to-day operations for the Athletics Department’s video production, game presentation and network broadcasts on Cyclones.tv and ESPN+. Positions will work in various production roles, helping produce or direct multi-camera arena shows, TV/online broadcasts and work with various game day displays. Will help conceptualize and implement graphics and animations that go into productions. Positions will collaborate with others on numerous projects throughout the year including team intro videos, broadcast opens, player headshots, in-game promos, social media, interstitials, sponsor integration and game day scripting in marketing and broadcast. Positions will assist with training and supervising part-time production crew members.
The successful candidates must have experience in a complex, control room environment with an understanding of most production equipment (including, but not limited to) production switchers, replay equipment, character generators, and scoreboard control equipment. Must have good troubleshooting skills with cameras and complex A/V equipment and have experience in video production, graphic design, motion design and live and in-venue sports broadcasting. The positions can be physically demanding, therefore, the successful candidate will possess the ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. The candidate will also possess the ability to work many non-traditional and long hours to cover events that include regular evenings and weekends and occasional overnight travel.
Required: Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and related experience totaling 5 years.
Preferred: Experience with video control room production equipment. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite. Experience producing TV/online broadcasts and videoboard presentations Experience implementing videoboard or TV broadcast scripts from marketing and sponsorship. Experience in graphic design, motion design and video editing skills as demonstrated in reel. Experience working with non-standard frame sizes for content development such as fascia displays and other LED signage.
