Summary: Reporting to the Athletic Director, the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance/Senior Women’s Administrator will be the first assistant to the Athletic Director and serve as the Acting Athletic Director in the Athletic Director’s absence.
Rules Education. Provide ongoing rules education program for athletic department staff, booster and other University personnel. Provide NCAA manuals and training for coaching staff. Coordinate the annual coach’s certification exam with the Big South Conference compliance representative. Serve as the official campus liaison between the institution and the NCAA. Officially call NCAA for rules interpretation regarding coach questions. Update Financial Aid Director, Registrar, Compliance Assistant and others responsible for compliance on changes in NCAA legislation. Communicate the institution’s commitment to the principles of fair play and amateur competition and recruiting practices to the institution’s governing board and representatives of the institutions athletics interests.
Self-Reporting. Investigate and report violations of NCAA regulations in accordance with established Big South Conference policy. Prepare institution’s response to NCAA violations.
Eligibility. Supervise the initial, continuing and transfer eligibility certification process to ensure its completion in accordance with NCAA regulations.
Records. Assist the institutional research department with completing Graduation – Rate Disclosure Form annually. Maintain secure files on all NCAA and Big South Conference required documents. Assist Athletic Director in completion of NCAA forms.
General Responsibilities. Keep Athletic Director informed of all NCAA or Conference matters related to compliance. Attend NCAA and Conference meetings when possible. Institute and enforce procedures necessary to maintain and verify institutional NCAA and Big South Conference memberships and rules compliance. Serve as liaison between the Athletic Director and the FAR, FAD and the Registrar. Communicate the institution’s commitment to student-athletes when reviewing student-athlete statements and compliance matters. Serve as Chair of the search committee for hiring new athletic personnel. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (master’s preferred)

Experience: Minimum 4 years work experience with NCAA rules compliance, preferably at Division I level. Strong working knowledge, and ability to apply and enforce NCAA regulations and guidelines. Working knowledge of Compliance Assistant (CA), LSDBi, and NCAA RSRO. Working knowledge of compliance software such as Jumpforward. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational management skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team. Must be able to establish an effective working relationship with student-athletes, coaches, administrators and staff.
