The Athletics Compliance Coordinator performs the following functions under the direction of the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance: implements and maintains NCAA and Western Athletic Conference policies and procedures; aids the Assistant Registrar for NCAA eligibility with the determination of initial- transfer and continuing-eligibility; educates and trains student-athletes, coaches, staff members, campus entities, and UVU administration regarding NCAA Compliance; interprets and applies NCAA legislation to fact-specific scenarios; develops and implements programs to enhance the overall student-athlete experience at UVU; coordinates the completion of yearly NCAA reports (e.g., Graduation Success Rate, Academic Progress Rate); and, manages day-to-day compliance office responsibilities.
Working knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations, and the functioning of an intercollegiate athletic department.
Knowledge of how to produce, coordinate, and submit NCAA required reports.
Experience in submitting GSR and APR.
Experience with LSDBI, CAI, JumpForward, and RSRO.
Excellent writing skills including the ability to draft appeals, waivers, and memorandums.
Skills in computer software for record keeping, presentations, and NCAA databases including LSDBi, JumpForward, and CAi.
Skills in record keeping and reporting for large quantities of critical and sensitive information.
Excellent computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Prezi, etc..).
Ability to review and implement newly passed NCAA and Conference legislation.
Ability to represent the UVU Athletic Department appropriately and develop and maintain positive relationships with community agencies, campus entities, and department staff.
Ability to maintain integrity and keep confidences in critical situations on a day-to-day basis.
Ability to educate and motivate coaches and student-athletes in NCAACompliance, conference regulations, academic policies, and athletic department policies and procedures. *Ability to supervise and coordinate student-athlete enhancement programs including, but not limited to; orientations, educational training, service opportunities, etc.
Ability to provide appropriate data and statistical documentation when necessary.
Ability to direct and monitor certification of initial, transfer, and continuing eligibility of student-athletes, and to help maintain UVU’s NCAA Academic Performance Program.
Ability to investigate, evaluate, research, and submit any NCAAviolations through RSRO.
Additional Salary Information: A Bachelor’s Degree and at least 1 year of experience in intercollegiate athletics and/or NCAA compliance is required. Master’s or Law Degree and at least 1-2 years of progressively responsible experience in NCAA compliance (may be academic years) is preferred. A combination of education and experience totaling 5 years.
