Poly Prep Country Day School announces a search for a Middle School Physical Education Teacher & Head Squash Coach for grades 7 through 12. We seek a Middle School Physical Education Teacher with expertise in kinesiology, individual and team sports. We are looking for someone who is committed to promoting our school’s values and whose competence, integrity, and collegiality will enrich our community and Physical Education Department.
Teaching responsibilities include: Inspiring and empowering students to enjoy physical education/squash Teaching four sections of physical education/Squash Meeting with students on an individual basis if they need help Timely and accurate grading of assessments Communicating with students and families to provide feedback on student progress consistently throughout the year Amending and developing curricula as necessary to foster a student-centered learning environment
Coaching Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of the Upper School program, at all levels, including practice schedules and routines, and maintaining the squash facility Select, supervise, and mentor assistant coaches. Establish program expectations and oversee a staff of assistant coaches Provide regular communication with parents, families, staff, athletic director, and head of athletics Regularly track the academic progress of all student-athletes in the program and facilitate necessary support systems to ensure their academic eligibility Cooperate with other school-sponsored sports and encourage athletes to compete in other programs Develop and implement an off-season program for athletics Coordinate with local youth program below the 9th grade level Work with the Poly Sports Information Director as needed and establish strong working relationships with community support groups
Additional responsibilities include: Generating happiness and a positive outlook on life and wellness Attending community events throughout the school year Attending and contributing to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to, department, committee, division, and grade-level meetings
