Central Washington University is seeking qualified candidates to fill four (4) Graduate Assistantship positions in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletes. These 10-month positions will work in all facets of the athletic support services.
Qualifications for positions include: Bachelor’s degree required, intent to work in the field of athletic support services, experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, excellent written and oral communication skills, a self-starter, and excellent organizational skills. Applicants chosen for the position must meet admissions requirements for Central Washington University School of Graduate Studies. Weekend and night work will be required on occasion.
Graduate Assistant for Academic Advising Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: mentoring student-athletes, quarterly academic advising, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, supervising study halls, managing tutors, preparing academic reports and assessments, assist in on-campus recruiting, and contributing to UNIV 101 and 102 courses. Graduate Assistant for Game Management This position would report to the Deputy Director of Athletics and help coordinate athletic operations with regard to game management. This position will oversee a group of student workers that are in charge of event set-up and takedown as well as providing the event security for many of our sporting events, help coordinate the weekly game management meeting as well as serve as a liaison with athletics and ticketing, CWU Book Store, CWU Catering, Alumni Affairs, CWU Facilities, and CWU police department.
Graduate Assistant for External Affairs The External Affairs Graduate Assistant will provide support to the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs and the Associate Athletic Director for Development. This Graduate Assistant will be responsible for a variety of duties around the annual fund, donor events and the fundraising arm of CWU Athletics the Wildcat Club. Our goal is to provide this Graduate Assistant with a comprehensive experience in all facets of athletics fundraising and development. Areas of education and duties will include: how to plan and execute an event from inception to execution, alumni and donor database training and daily use, interacting with event guests through taking RSVPs and communicating event details, interacting with outside vendors regarding event logistics such as catering, venue rental, parking, logistics, setup, billing and post-event follow-up, creating event collateral such as invitations, signage, registration forms, assisting in event budgeting, representing the Wildcat Club through social media (creating unique content for the Wildcat Club’s Facebook page and Twitter account and responding to fan feedback through those mediums), assisting with Wildcat Club records management and letter award ordering and fulfillment process, and assisting with engagement and outreach opportunities for Wildcat Club members, including creating new events and interacting with members to enhance future events. Graduate Assistant for Ticketing The Ticketing Graduate Assistant will support the University Director of Ticketing in the operation of the Athletic Ticket Office for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. This position will promote the Central Washington brand in an effort to increase attendance, generate revenue and maximize the game-day fan experience. The Ticketing Graduate Assistant will be primarily responsible for assisting with the day to day operations of the ticket office as well as running the box office at football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing customer service to ticket holders; working on the backend of Vendini, generating reports and analyzing data; working within Vendini to send periodic emails; manage the scheduling and recruitment of student workers to manage all events; assisting with ticket operations for theatre and orchestra events; and other duties as assigned.
Compensation for the position includes a tuition waiver and an $8,000 stipend. Appointment will be reviewed annually.
