Description The Assoc Athletic Director of Strategic Communications is responsible for the oversight of the sports information, video/digital production, and communications areas of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
•Develop, manage and execute department-wide communication and media relations plans and strategies that align with the core mission, goals and objectives of the Athletics Department. •Develop and maintain strong relationships with external media contacts at the local, regional, and national level; identify opportunities to increase visibility, brand and exposure of the Athletics program. •Manage the employees of and supervise the activities of the Athletic Communications and Media Relations unit. •Direct all media and communication activities for UH Football and other programs as assigned to include athletic website, social media, email, and other external platforms. •Create original and robust content to promote UH administrators, teams, coaches and student- athletes. •Assist Sr. Assoc AD and Executive team with development and implementation of department-wide engagement plans to raise awareness for UH Athletics and aligns with the core mission, goals and objectives of the Athletic Department. •Collaborate with other creative internal and external facing units as liaison with teams, department and associated constituent groups to create engaging content across various media and communication platforms. •Maintain digital statistical files/archives for the department and related sports programs. •Direct, manage and review work performed by assigned employees. •Serve as spokesperson/ambassador for the Athletics Department and the University of Houston representing both at all times, in all settings that positively reflects and grows affinity for all things UH.
Qualifications Bachelors and 5 years experience
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
