The University of Mary is currently seeking a Graduate Assistant for the Wrestling program. The successful candidate is passionate about impacting and mentoring student athletes at the University of Mary. This position is responsible for assisting the Head Wrestling Coach with operating a college wrestling program. The goal of this position is to immerse one in all aspects of running a college wrestling program to prepare the Graduate Assistant Coach for a fulltime coaching position at the college or high school level.
Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:
Develop student athletes with skill development, academic and social skills
Game preparation, community events, fundraising, travel, other office duties as assigned
Operate/oversee social media accounts for the wrestling program
Desired Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience include:
A Bachelor's degree and acceptance/enrollment into a graduate program at UMary is required
Successful experience coaching/wrestling at the collegiate level or higher is preferred
First Aid and CPR certified (UMary will offer this certification course onsite)
Willing to earn a Class C Commercial Driver's License
Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict's admonition that all be received as Christ
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Ability to demonstrate and show wrestling technique and drills
Ability to evaluate wrestling film
Candidate will possess a good work ethic, attention to detail, ability to manage sensitive and confidential student information, and a familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
Proficiency in social media use is preferred
Strong communication skills
