The Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communications will be responsible for strategic communication of news for the Department of Athletics and Recreation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS •Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Athletics Director for Strategic Communication will lead, plan, and establish short-term and long-term communication strategies that reach all key constituents including alumni, donors, and sponsors •Strategic and effective engaging outreach to the campus community and surrounding communities including the Shreveport-Bossier communities •Strategic and effective promotion of current and former student-athletes, coaches, and others to local, regional, and national media outlets •Maintain the athletics and recreation websites and all athletics and recreation social media platforms, including YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Periscope and other platforms •Collaborate with the College’s Marketing and Communications Department by providing athletic and recreation updates, information and photos of student-athletes, coaches and others, events and facilities related to College athletics and recreation •Manage or assist in activities associated with organizing and conducting special athletic events, such as national, regional and conference competitions, Centenary Athletic Club events and Homecoming/Hall of Fame induction activities •Lead and have knowledge of video production and live streaming efforts. Supervise production and distribution for streaming for a majority of home events •Lead and have knowledge of iMovie and/or Adobe Premiere Pro, InDesign, Photoshop and Creative Suite Products •Develop and maintain all Athletic communication department procedures, reports, updates and records of activity, as well as photo files in accordance with department procedures; archive historical Athletics information; compile and submit reporting forms for conference and national statistics leaders. •Recruit, train and supervise student workers to perform office work and assist in recording statistical and other information at all home contests, and direct student workers as assistants in maintaining records during games and compiling statistics after games.
•Coordinates statistical databases for all NCAA and non-NCAA competitive sports; maintains record books and academic and athletic awards lists for all sports; manages periodic reporting to NCAA, SCAC and other National Governing Bodies and conference affiliations •Assists Athletics Director with Academic and Athletic All-America nominations and maintains archives of nominees and winners. •Commit to College, Department of Athletics and Recreation, SCAC and NCAA rules and regulations •Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation
Supervises student, staff and game-day (temporary) workers.
Bachelor’s degree required
1-3 years of directly related experience dealing with a relatively large and dynamic group of constituents
Working knowledge or ability to become proficient quickly with Statcrew statistical software.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, written, leadership, problem-solving, organizational, analytical and skills
Must have knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by NCAA and conference
