Maryville College is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Athletic Training & Health Care Administrator. This is a full-time (12-month) position.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Supervises the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of all injuries to Maryville College student-athletes directly related to intercollegiate athletics. Supervises the daily operation of the Maryville College Athletic Training Facility, including the supervision of the use of the athletic training equipment and supplies. Manages athletic training budget including inventory and purchase of all supplies and equipment. Works directly under the supervision of Maryville College team physicians in implementing the health care of Maryville College athletes.
Serves as the Health Care Administrator, providing the management and tracking of insurance claims; insurance billing; assistance to student-athletes in navigating locally provided medical care (e.g. scheduling appointments, diagnostic imaging); sustaining and enhancing relationships with local medical providers; and maintaining medical files (e.g. history and injury reports). Oversees student athlete insurance program including bid process and enrollment. Ensures medical coverage per College, USA South, and/or NCAA standards.
Ensure all student-athletes are pre-certified and cleared to participate with collegiate sports. Coordinates redshirt documentation for NCAA and/or USA South Conference. Organize and administer drug testing, per departmental policy. Responsible for supervision of Assistant Athletic Trainers and student workers. Assists coaching staff in developing programs that aid in the prevention of injuries; ensure appropriate Athletics personnel are trained in and implement concussion protocols. Serve as team member addressing assessment efforts throughout Athletics. Serve as instructor for First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications. HIPAA designated employee with responsibility to administer and handle the Personal Health Information of College employees and their dependents in a confidential manner. Work with and provide sports coverage for assigned teams. Extensive travel required. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required. Preference given to master’s degree in exercise science or related field. Minimum three years of experience, working with various sports. Minimum of one year demonstrated experience with supervision. Possess and maintains certification as an athletic trainer by the NATA/BOC, athletic trainer licensure by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners or licensure eligible (note TN law requires licensure before an athletic trainer can practice in the state of TN). Current certification in First Aid, Professional CPR, and AED is required. Current certification as instructor of First Aid, CPR, and AED is required – or ability to obtain within three months of hire. A valid Tennessee Driver’s license is required – or ability to obtain one within three months of hire.
