Position: Graduate Assistant (GA) available for Fall and Spring semester and would include working 300 hours, $2,000 stipend and 6 credit waiver. The GA is responsible for assisting the head and assistant coaches in all facets of a successful intercollegiate cross country and track and field program within the framework of the mission of the university and the athletic department. These include, but, are not limited to coaching, recruitment, academic monitoring, instruction and the development of all student-athletes. Applicants should have experience competing in intercollegiate track and field. Applicants should have experience in the sprints, jumps, hurdles or throwing events. Duties: Primary responsibilities include: •Know NCAA DIII rules and regulations to ensure compliance with departmental, conference, and national policies •Ensure academic success, focusing on classroom achievements and graduation requirements •Develop and support team culture as instituted by Head Coach •Assist Head Coach and Athletic Department with daily administrative duties including occasional game administration. Specific coaching responsibilities include: •Develop and coach Sprints/Jumps/Hurdles or Throwers •Identify and recruit talented athletes to the assigned event area •Travel and attend all meets •Assist with fundraising efforts for the program •Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Director of Athletics
Position Requirements: Highly organized, detail oriented individual; proficiency in Word and Excel required; previous experience in college athletic setting preferred; ability to work some nights and weekends.
Admission into The Sage Colleges graduate program or have plans to enroll into a graduate program
Intercollegiate experience competing in the sprints/jumps/hurdles or throwing events
Interest in coaching after graduate school at the NCAA or high school level
