The Executive Director of Athletic Programs (USAFA/AD) leads and manages one of the three primary mission elements at the United States Air Force (USAF) Academy. The position performs all inherently governmental duties relating to physical education, fitness training and testing, intramural, and nationwide intercollegiate (IC) programs and coordinates all major government policy, strategic planning, personnel, public relations and financial decisions relating to athletic programs, through the Superintendent, for final approval prior to implementation. Closely collaborates with the Air Force Academy Athletic Corporation (AFAAC), including its Athletic Director, providing substantial government involvement in the Air Force-AFAAC cooperative agreement in support of Academy athletics. Ensures mission and operational execution of the Directorate and Academy athletics.
The Director needs to demonstrate commitment to a program of academic and competitive success built upon the highest standards of leadership, character, academic and fiscal responsibility, cadet-athlete health and welfare, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and relevant conference rules compliance. This position establishes and maintains a foundation of integrity reflecting core institutional values including: integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do, within a culture of respect and a climate of commitment to those values.
