Overview: The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is looking for a qualified candidate to work in collegiate athletics to serve as Communications Assistant. Our campus is located on the Upper East Side, one of the city’s most attractive residential areas. Panther Athletics has over 300 student-athletes participating in 15 NCAA Division I sports as a part of the Horizon League.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Assistant AD-Communications, this position will serve as a communications assistant in the athletics communications department. This position is primary responsible for the publicity and media relations duties of their assigned sports. Those duties include game recaps, media guides/record books, website maintenance, press releases, statistical record-keeping and game day operations. Other duties include the promotion of assigned sports to local/national media, assist with the creation of social media content and fulfill game day roles at volleyball, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball games as assigned and other duties as assigned by the Assistant AD-Communications.
Appointment: This position is a 10-month appointment with anticipated start date of August 12th, 2019. Candidates must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Salary: This position includes a $15,000 salary over the 10-month appointment.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree required. Previous experience with Stat Crew and/or Genius statistical software is preferred. Experience in communications, media relations, or public relations in collegiate or professional sports environment or a related field is also preferred.
Skills: Successful candidates will have excellent communication and organization skills, problem solving and decision-making skills that produce results. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
