The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) is accepting applications for the Assistant Director Internship for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years. The position offers the candidate the opportunity to immerse themselves in all aspects of collegiate athletic administration at the conference level over the two-year appointment. The position reports directly to the MAC Executive Director. The Assistant Director will be involved in the conference’s day-to-day operations, including but not limited to: championships; membership services; sports information; strategic planning; branding; and more. The position is funded primarily through the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant.

1. Championships (25%)
Work with host institutions to oversee conference postseason events including accounting, event operations and game management.
Represent the conference at championship events.
Assist in the execution of hosting the NCAA Division III Field Hockey championship at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa.
2. Membership Educational Services (25%)
Execute recommended initiatives from the MAC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
Take the lead in planning the MAC Women’s Coaching Symposium in the fall of 2019.
Attend meetings and events; participate in conference calls.
Coordinate agendas and minutes for meetings and conference calls.
Serve as a liaison to the MAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Update the Fact Book (conference code/bylaws).
Assist with NCAA and MAC rules interpretations.
3. Communications / Sports Information (25%)
Expand social media presence of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and other platforms.
Oversee the MAC Play of the Week.
Write championship releases.
Assist with maintenance of gomacsports.com website.
Research and supplement conference’s 100-year archive of 27 sports.
Produce photography and video productions.
Develop live broadcasting opportunities of conference events.
4. Strategic Planning (10%)
Take key role in overseeing the Conference strategic plan.
Work with ADs, FARs, Presidents, Coaches, and conference staff to meet deadlines identified within the strategic plan.
5. Branding (10%)
Assist with marketing efforts for the conference.
Create strategies to take advantage of report from outside branding consultants.
Assist with development of brand standards and usage guidelines.
6. Other duties/projects as assigned by the Executive Director (5%)
Additional items may include: compliance; scheduling; accounting; awards; or film exchange.
Bachelor’s degree required. Applicants should have previous work experience in athletic administration and a desire to work in college athletics. Candidates should demonstrate excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Ideal applicants will have advanced computer skills and experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and website maintenance. Knowledge of NCAA and Division III rules preferred. The candidate must self-identify as an ethnic minority and/or a female. For the purposes of the grant, racial ethnic minorities are described pursuant to federal guidelines.
Additional Salary Information: Two 10-month segments, plus annual stipends of: $3,000 (professional development); $3,500 year 1/$1,500 year 2 (technology); $3,000 (travel); and health insurance
About Middle Atlantic Conference
Founded on December 11, 1912, the Middle Atlantic Conferences, commonly known as the MAC, is one of the oldest intercollegiate athletics associations in the United States. The MAC has evolved into the only NCAA umbrella organization of three conferences – MAC Commonwealth, MAC Freedom, and Middle Atlantic. Currently 17 Division III schools, spanning three states, have about 7,000 student-athletes competing in 27 sports for 40 conference championships. Member schools in 2019-20 will be: Albright College; Alvernia University; Arcadia University; Delaware Valley University; DeSales University; Eastern University; Fairleigh Dickinson University - Florham Campus; Hood College; King’s College; Lebanon Valley College; Lycoming College; Messiah College; Misericordia University; Stevens Institute of Technology; Stevenson University; Widener University; and Wilkes University.
