Iowa State University is currently accepting applications for a media production specialist to serve as Associate Director, Game Presentation. This position will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for the Athletics Department’s videoboard production operation and game presentation. Position produces and directs multi-camera, arena shows, game day displays, live TV/online broadcasts, including conceptualizing and creating unique original graphics and animations. Position will collaborate with others on numerous projects throughout the year including team intro videos, player headshots, in-game promos, social media, sponsor integration and game day scripting. Position will supervise full-time and part-time production crew members.
The successful candidate must be comfortable in a complex, control room environment with an understanding of all production equipment (including, but not limited to) production switchers, replay equipment, character generators, and scoreboard control equipment. Must have advanced troubleshooting skills with cameras and complex A/V equipment and be experienced in video production, graphic design, motion design and live and in-venue sports broadcasting. The position can be physically demanding; therefore, the successful candidate will possess the ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. The candidate will also possess the ability to work many non-traditional and long hours to cover events that include regular evenings and weekends and occasional overnight travel.
Required: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a combination of education and related experience totaling 6 years.
Preferred: Experience producing TV/in-venue simulcasts. Experience in graphic design, motion design and video editing as demonstrated in reel. Experience implementing game day scripts. Experience working with non-standard frame sizes for content development such as fascia displays and other LED signage. Experience with Daktronics, Ross and NewTek video control room production equipment Experience using Adobe Creative Suite. Experience managing and training crew members on related gameday tasks.
