This position is a part-time internship that is in accordance with the NCAA Division Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant. The position will have a 10 month work obligation.
The salary offered includes the cost of campus housing and health insurance for 10 months. The college will also provide a technology allocation. The NCAA will also provide a $3,000 professional development stipend. The internship is for a 2 year appointment. Duties and responsibilities include the following:
A. Internal Operations: The Athletic Operations and Facilities Assistant will play a crucial role with regard to the internal operations of our athletic department. The main aspects of this job responsibility include day-to-day operations of our department, interfacing with community members, students, clients, and other staff on campus. In conjunction with our Internal Operations Manager, will oversee our building supervisors, student employees, and community member. Other responsibilities include: i. Plan, organize, and implement major department events ii. Facilitate cross-campus relationships and help to further integrate athletics within the campus ii. Assist in scheduling all outdoor venues for both our own athletics teams and our outside clients
B. Facilities Management: The candidate will be responsible for helping with the oversight, maintenance, and repairs of all athletic facilities, The main aspects of this job responsibility are ensuring all facilities are health and safety compliant, well-maintained, and preparing those facilities for competition. The candidate, in conjunction with the Facilities Manager, will effectively prepare our facilities for use, schedule appropriate maintenance/safety checks, and tend to all other facility-related matters. Other responsibilities include: i. Assist with setup and breakdown of all athletic facilities for use during competition and/or outside clients ii. Meet regularly with Facilities Manager and all outside health and safety officials to ensure all facilities remain compliant iii. Collaborate with Internal Operations Manager, Assistant AD, AD, and coaches to ensure facility needs are being met iv. Collaborate with Purchase College Campus Facilities Management team on capital projects and improvements
C. Game Day Operations: The candidate will share the duty of game day administrator with the rest of the staff in the department. Approximately 1-3 times per month the candidate will be the designated athletics staff representative for our varsity home events. They will initiate communication with the visiting team, act as a liaison for the visiting team once they arrive, and ensure that all other necessary staff is in place for each home event they are assigned.
D. Equipment Management: The candidate will also assist in the inventory and distribution/collection of team uniforms and equipment. They will have hands-on experience with balancing an equipment budget, and ensure that all state property purchased for the athletic teams is accounted for and well-maintained. Candidate will be offered an opportunity to serve as an Educator/Mentor in our Freshman Seminar program.
E. Working with Residence Life: Will work with Residence Coordinator and Community Development Coordinator, and will be a member of the Office of Community Engagement staff and assist the Residence Coordinator in the: administration of the residence hall community buildings with front line operation management, customer service, facility administration and community development. This is a live-in position, which participates in the campus duty rotation during high volume/large scale events and operations, and is involved in housing and residence life functions on campus and responds to campus emergencies, while supporting student involvement and orientation programs throughout the academic year.

Bachelor’s degree required. General knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Coaching experience preferred. Athletic playing experience preferred. General computer knowledge required. Ability to lift 50lbs. Flexible work schedule nights and weekends are required. Valid driver’s license required. Must have CPR and first aid certifications within 60 days of employment.
