The Athletics department encompasses thirteen athletic sport programs with a staff consisting of approximately 30 full-time and 25 part-time staff. https://www.wou.edu/athletics/
The Director of Athletic Communications will direct and manage all sports information and media relations operations of the Athletic department including game-day press box and scorer’s table operations, development and dissemination of athletic-related press releases, maintain the department website, assist with all athletic related social and new media sites, development of game day programs and media guides, develop and compile all statistical data, and work in collaboration with other internal and external constituent groups in the promotion of Wolves Athletics. This individual will work with the Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics to develop and implement policies, procedures, and a strategic plan for the external relations outreach for the department (print and social media, etc.), and work with University Communications & Marketing for Wolves Athletics branding and licensing.

Minimum two years in media relations
Demonstrated experience in Stat Crew systems software
Proven computer experience (Macintosh or PC), spreadsheet/database applications (Microsoft Excel, Access), word processing applications (Microsoft Word), desktop publishing software (i.e. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, or Quark Xpress)
Demonstrated knowledge and working experience with publishing, graphic design, website design, and/or social and new media skills
Demonstrated experience administering various social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Vine, etc.)
Strong managerial skills with the ability to interact effectively with various campus and outside constituencies
Excellent professional/interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, organization, editing ability and knowledge of AP style
Demonstrated commitment to the total welfare of student-athletes
Thorough knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations
Master’s degree with four years related work experience in Division I or II media relations with specific experience related to at least two but preferable several of the following areas: communications, ticketing, marketing, promotions, event management, licensing, and/or merchandising
Experience developing a comprehensive communication/branding strategy
