Applications are welcome for the Athletic Communications Internship at Saint Michael's College. Saint Michael's is an NCAA Division II institution sponsoring 21 varsity sports, and is a proud member of the Northeast-10 Conference, the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association and the New England Women's Hockey Alliance.
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to learn every aspect of the Athletic Communications profession, while assisting the Director of Athletic Communications in day-to-day operation of the office. Primary responsibilities include all media relations duties including writing press releases, compiling team statistics and records, reporting to the NE10 and the NEWHA, assisting with game day and press box operations, utilizing social media, editing and producing video content and Photoshop graphics, and aiding with the daily maintenance of the Saint Michael's Athletics website. The successful candidate will gain valuable comprehensive knowledge and experience in all facets of the college Athletic Communications business. This is a one year, full-time hourly paid internship. The anticipated start date is August 19, 2019, with completion of the internship on May 8, 2020.
The individual accepted into this position will be eligible for paid time off as outlined in the Employee Handbook but is not eligible for other benefits.
Bachelor's degree with work experience in Athletic Communications or a related field.
Proficient skills in verbal and written communication are a must
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Desktop publishing programs.
Familiarity with Stat Crew statistical packages, Adobe Photoshop and Premiere, and social media platforms are desired.
Driver's license - must be able to successfully pass driving record check.
An offer of employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
