The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Business Analyst to support the Athletics Business Office.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): exemplary customer service to internal and external constituencies; conducting trend and data analysis to maximize current and future resources; collecting, analyzing, and presenting financial information; assisting in preparing recommendations for policies, procedures, controls, or actions; daily interaction with various University departments and vendors to ensure appropriate accounting and system functions; and managing and tracking special projects to meet the strategic and annual goals of the Business Office.
Duties may include:
Analyze and reconcile fund accounts, special projects, or tasks to ensure appropriate entries are made and monitor the account balances.
Maintain financial records for department funds, following University and departmental policies and procedures, and maintain all documentation and records to meet audit requirements.
Research, collect and analyze financial information to make well-informed decisions about current and future investments.
Prepare standard and special studies, reports and analyses.
Serve as a department representative in pan-institutional finance initiatives or committees. Attend standing meetings and training sessions as needed to keep apprised of changes in policy and procedures.
Bachelor's Degree with a major in Business Administration, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
Some experience with business operations, such as budget oversight and allocation, trend and data analysis, and/or account reconciliation.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of financial operations.
Strong analytical and numerical ability.
Ability to analyze and present information.
Proficiency in computer applications, especially with numerical and statistical applications, such as Excel.
Ability to learn and master a variety of database and software programs.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Related experience working in a collegiate or professional athletics environment highly preferred.
Experience with budget oversight and allocation, trend and data analysis, and account reconciliation in a college athletics environment.
Knowledge of NCAA, ACC, and University regulations.
Additional Salary Information: Starting salary is dependent upon qualifications.
