The Sports Information Intern is a temporary one year paid position with the possibility of campus housing if the school has the capacity to accommodate. This position is for the 2019-20 school year with a start date in early August, 2019.
The purpose of this position is to help with the ever growing written and video/graphic opportunities presented to the Sports Information Office. This person will help create content for the athletic website, social media, video boards, etc. We are looking for more coach/athlete interviews, feature stories, and even larger social media presence with more video production to meet the demands. This position reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations and serves as the primary communications contact for assigned sports and manages the athletic department website. This position generates content and arranges interviews for coaches, student-athletes and staff with local, regional, national and digital media.
Responsibilities and Duties:
•Serve as the primary communications contact for sports as assigned; generate written, oral and visual content; arrange interviews for coaches, student-athletes and staff with local media
•Manage the athletic department website, including generating content in written, audio and visual formats; coordinate digital content with other athletic departments; coordinate with external provider for website, statistical integration, live audio and video streaming
•Write news and feature material on athletic department personnel and athletes
•Manage game operations, produce digital and printed publications, gather and disseminate statistical data, and maintain historical information
•Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations
Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree Required. 2-3 years of experience in communications, web production or a related field preferred.
Experience with SID Help or similar platforms, Adobe Premier, PhotoShop, After Effects, and StatCrew/DakStats statistical software preferred.
