The Midwest Conference (MWC) (Grinnell, Iowa) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Executive Director - External Operations. The Assistant/Associate Executive Director is an integral member of the MWC administrative staff, working closely with the Executive Director and league membership. The Assistant/Associate Director will handle all sports information duties for the Conference as well as external operations as described.
Sports Information Responsibilities – * Oversee, enhance and maintain the MWC website * Promote the league through various forms of social media * Maintain close association with, and serve as the primary liaison to, the institutional Directors of Sports Information * Administer pre-season polls for each sport * Coordinate the MWC award programs and promote award recipients - including performer of the week, all-Conference, sportsmanship, coach/coaching staff of the year, academic awards, etc. * Oversee master sport schedules and coordinate with campus SIDs to ensure accurate and consistent publication * Update and maintain comprehensive archives for the MWC - including awards, statistics, standings, champions, tournament winners and records * Supervise sports information intern (when applicable) * Perform related duties to meet the needs of the Conference as assigned by the Executive Director
External Operations Responsibilities -- * Operate as the league’s Assistant/Associate Director of Championships and End-of-Season Tournaments * Oversee Sports Information and Sport-Specific Vendor Agreements and Relations * Administer MWC Female & Ethnic Minority Mentoring Program * Serve as Conference SAAC Advisor * Attend Professional Events as Representative of the MWC Office * Perform related duties to meet the needs of the Conference as assigned by the Executive Director
The successful candidate should have 3-5 years of collegiate athletics experience, some portion of which in a sports information office. A bachelor’s degree is required and advanced degree is strongly preferred. The individual will possess strong verbal, written and online communication skills. The ability to manage multiple responsibilities under pressure, with tight deadlines and minimal direct supervision is essential for success. Proficiency in website maintenance and development, use of StatCrew, Excel, and Adobe is required, as is a valid driver’s license. Anticipated Start Date - June 1, 2019, though limited flexibility exits.
