Position Summary The Head Women's Basketball coach is responsible for all aspects in leading a competitive NCAA Division I women's basketball program to include, but not limited to: coaching (practice and in-game), recruiting, meeting NCAAAPR requirements, fundraising, positive encouragement towards student-athlete development, scheduling, and hiring staff. The head women's basketball coach must be fully committed to all NCAA, Southland Conference, and University of the Incarnate Word Athletics Department policies and procedures, and will be expected to work cooperatively with all constituencies and campus units.
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under University of the Incarnate Word's Sexual Misconduct Policy with reporting responsibilities as set out in the policy.

Description of Job Duties Job duties include, but are not limited to: • Managing and directing the program; • Recruiting, teaching and demonstrating coaching skills; • Building and sustaining positive relationships with student-athletes, former players, faculty, alumni and staff; • Competing and scheduling; • Managing a fiscally sound budget; • Directs the assistant basketball coach in coordinating study hall and tutoring; • Monitors class schedules, grades and student-athlete academic progress. • Works cooperatively with athletic personnel, attends department meetings and activities; • Represents the university positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media and general public; and • Responsible for evaluating assistant coaches. • Field a competitive Southland Conference team that consistently qualifies for the Southland post-season tournament. • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities • Ability to recruit, coach and teach highly talented student-athletes. • Ability to market and promote UIW Women’s Basketball. • Exhibit leadership and professional behavior in dealing with student-athletes. • Be a team player, and have the ability to support and assist other employees. • Dependable and have strong customer service skills. • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. • Ability to work various hours including weekends, evenings and some Holidays. • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education Bachelor’s Degree
Required Work Experience One year of NCAA Division I head coaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications Masters Degree
