Graduate Assistantships are available in Field Hockey, Women’s Lacrosse, Softball, Athletic Training, Men’s and Women’s Golf/Game Operations, Men's and Women's Tennis, Strength and Conditioning and Sports Information. The positions are designed for two years of study (renewable after year one), subject to maintaining a 3.0 GPA, at which point the student should have a completed master’s degree. The positions are 10-month and compensation includes tuition remission, a $500 monthly stipend, health insurance, a meal plan and housing
Field Hockey, Softball, Men’s & Women’s Golf/Game Operations, Men's and Women's Tennis and Women’s Lacrosse: The qualified applicant will assist in all facets of coaching a Division III team. Additional responsibilities are included, but not limited to academic monitoring, recruiting qualified student athletes, and team management. The qualified applicant must be able to work with various campus constituents as well as Alumni and friends of the program. Note: Golf has additional responsibilities that include game operations for the Athletic Department.
Athletic Communications: The qualified applicants will possess strong work ethic, enthusiasm and the goal of working in athletic communications/related field in the long term. They will assist in all aspects of athletic communications, including but not limited to – writing releases and game stories, producing video content, creation of official game programs and social media graphics, serving as official game statistician for multiple sports, managing and contributing to all home Manhattanville sporting event broadcasts on ValiantVision, managing the official athletics website (GoValiants.com), developing and maintaining relationships with local and national media outlets, assisting in the supervision of athletic communications student staff, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidates will possess many of the following qualifications – working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premier), experience with statistical programs (StatCrew, Genius NCAA Live Stats, Presto Stats, etc.), experience with collegiate athletic website service (SIDEARM, Presto, etc.), excellent written and verbal communications skills, expertise in Microsoft Office, a working knowledge of AP Style writing and a passion for sports. There are TWO Assistant Director of Athletic Communications (GA) positions available.
Athletic Training: The qualified applicant will assist the Head and Associate Athletic Trainer in all aspects of the Sports Medicine Program. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting with physician and allied health clinics, assist with evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses, assist with practice and game coverage and assist with insurance claims. Candidate must be experienced with contact sports, NATABOC certified, CPR and AED certified and eligible for New York State licensure.
Strength and Conditioning: The qualified applicant will design and implement strength, speed, agility and conditioning sessions for sports assigned by the Director in accordance with our programs philosophy. Assist in the implementation of rehab programs prescribed by the doctors and sports medicine staff and as well as additional duties including cleaning and maintaining all strength and conditioning equipment. Candidate must be certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or take the CSCS test within the first semester of employment.
Required: Bachelor’s Degree, experience in college athletics or intramurals as either a coach or an athlete, and a valid US driver’s license for a minimum of two years. Hiring is contingent upon a background check and acceptance into a qualified Master’s Program at Manhattanville College.
