Under the direction of the Head Coach, The Graduate Assistant Coach assists with planning, coaching, recruiting, administering, and promoting an athletics program within NCAA Division II and University standards. The Graduate Assistant Soccer Coach assists in executing all responsibilities in a manner that reflects an ongoing commitment to the excellence, integrity and success of the Soccer program, the Athletic Department, and West Virginia State University.
Minimum of two years of significant and relevant playing or teaching/coaching experience in soccer (goal keeping position), at the professional, collegiate, or high school level required.
Teaches relevant skills to student-athletes during team practices, games, and individual/small group training sessions. Specifically, the team goal keepers.
Evaluates the performance of the team and individual student-athletes in order to instruct and advise on technical, strategic, and mental development. Specifically, the team goal keepers.
Analyzes data and evaluates film in order to develop, implement, and improve student-athletes.
Counsels and advises student-athletes, consulting with the head coach and/or other appropriate University staff as necessary.
Participates in the development and implementation of an overall recruiting plan, assisting in recruiting highly selective prospects.
Complies with NCAA and University rules and regulations. Also ensuring student-athletes and athletics representatives are informed of and comply with NCAA and University rules and regulations.
Assists with developing and monitoring the budget.
Assists in developing and implementing travel plans.
All coaches perform secondary duties within the department.
Secondary duties may include: event management, equipment management, assisting with facility rentals, intramural supervision, etc. Those responsibilities will be determined and assigned based on program and departmental needs.
Additional Salary Information: Tuition waivers, housing waiver and $500/month stipend
