Under the direction of the Director of Performance Nutrition, the Football Performance Dietitian’s (Registered Dietitian) duties will include, not are not limited to the daily oversight of football lounge, training table, and all fueling products for all Football student-athletes. Serve as the primary point of contact for providing consults/meal plans/dietary assessments for all Football student-athletes, collaborate in nutrition care process with Performance Nutrition staff and multidisciplinary Football support staff (Director of Strength & Conditioning, Director of Sports Medicine) and provide Medical Nutrition Therapy on all nutrition related conditions, including but not limited to: nutrient deficiencies and related anemias, food allergies and sensitivities/intolerances, GI complications and disordered eating.
In accordance with Performance Nutrition program, the Football Performance Dietitian is responsible for the creation of educational materials (including handouts, team talks information, grocery tours/cooking classes promotion, etc. and the dissemination of information via social media to all Football student athletes, coaches, and staff. The incumbent will evaluate all dietary supplements taken by Football student athletes and provide continued education, will participate in menu development and oversight for training table meals and snacks provided to Football.
The Football Performance Dietitian will oversee nutrition budget directly as it related to Football including ordering and purchasing of all food, supplements, and beverages, all duties concerning the student nutrition workers; hiring process, scheduling hours, and daily responsibilities.
The incumbent will coordinate and plan all travel and game day nutrition and fueling needs, oversee the daily operations of all athletic department fueling stations, and creating monthly schedule of products to be offered including managing, communication orders with appropriate Athletic Department Staff.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, clinical nutrition, food and nutrition, or related area, granted from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university required; current registration as a Dietitian from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) minimum of two years of experience in nutrition counseling, preferable with emphasis on sports nutrition and in a collegiate athletic setting; must hold or be eligible to obtain state certification as a “Certified Dietitian” in the State of Wisconsin as provided under WI Statutes 448.70 through 448.94. Preferred qualifications include Master’s degree in sports nutrition or related area, Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), previous experience working with football in a team environment at the Division 1 level, and experience using DEXA for body composition testing.
Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included. Anticipated start date is on or after April 1, 2019.
