FLSA Status:Exempt – Full Time, 10-month assignment
Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the Assistant Football Coach is responsible for assisting with the management and administration of all activities related to his/her sport. As a member of the Jewell Community, the Assistant Football Coach is fully responsible for compliance with all College policies and procedures as well as all applicable bylaws of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). At William Jewell College, Intercollegiate Athletics are a meaningful part of a student’s educational experience and are considered to be a co-curricular activity.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Conduct the sport program in strict compliance with all applicable NCAA and GLVC bylaws. •Promote academic excellence and graduation by monitoring academic progress, study tables, academic meetings, and class attendance •Coach offensive line at practices and in games. •Attend practice sessions and other related training activities as assigned by the Head Coach •Recruit prospective student-athletes in a coordinated effort with the Office of Admission. •Drive vans to transport team when appropriate •Submit appropriate reports and forms to administrative staff as requested •Actively participate in GLVC coaches conference meetings where applicable and be available for all GLVC coaches’ conference calls. •Participate in community engagement, community service, and fund-raising activities •Plan, promote and conduct camps, clinics, and/or lessons. •Work collaboratively with the Office of Advancement to cultivate relationships with alumni and other friends/supporters of the College. Other related duties as assigned. •Assist with winter and spring home athletic •Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. •Progressive experience as a collegiate football coach. •Knowledge of and commitment to strict adherence to NCAA, GLVC and institutional rules and regulations. •Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with a strong understanding of the importance to detail. •An understanding of the unlimited unique opportunities and challenges in the environment of private higher education with the ability to work with a diverse population. •Have, or be willing to attain, a Missouri Class E Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or equivalent.
Normal office environment as well as indoor and outdoor athletics facilities. Some travel required. Evening and weekend work required. Physically able to lift 25 pounds and attend practice and competitive sessions indoors and outdoors.
