Yale seeks a dynamic candidate to formulate, teach, and coach all technical aspects of game preparation and game strategy for the Division 1 Women's Hockey Program. Direct competitions, practices, administrative activities, alumni relations activities, and the recruitment process for student athletes. Develops the women's ice hockey program within the parameters of the structure and regulations of the Ivy League, the NCAA and the University. Develops and determines the recruitment program for and final selection of athletic talent. Independently determines and shapes the strategy, technical aspects, and game preparation; teaches team concepts. Oversee all aspects of recruitment, fundraising, performance of athletes, and administrative details. Supervises and directs activities of Assistant Coaches. Manages the team budget. Promotes a positive image of the program in the New Haven Community, at the University, for alumni and on a national level.
Five years collegiate coaching experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of effective coaching techniques and best practices. Ability to work in a diverse work environment and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, student and alums. Ability to organize and manage all facts of the program including recruiting, scouting, individual instruction, budget planning, monitoring academic progress and success of student-athletes, and general day to day operations. Ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team environment. Abiloity to maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches and athletic and university administration. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends. Travel required.
