Provide oversight and strategic direction to the equipment operations for the University of Minnesota football program.
Supervision (40 %) Supervise the football equipment room staff including one full-time Teamster employee and student managers/employees. Coordinate schedules, assignments, and laundry shifts. Ensure that all equipment and laundry services are ready on a daily basis. • Provide supervision of full-time and part-time football equipment staff through effective performance management including goal setting, on-going coaching and feedback and review. Responsible for the selection, onboarding/training and scheduling of all staff.
Equipment management (20%) Oversee ordering, receiving, inventory, issuing and maintenance of football apparel and equipment. • Develop, monitor and reconcile football equipment operations budget of over $1million. • Lead the collaboration with University staff and suppliers to develop the brand implementation for apparel, uniform and other related items. • Provide oversight and execution of the selection, ordering, inventory, issuing and maintenance of all football equipment, uniforms and apparel. Ensure effective equipment inventory systems are implemented and adhere to all University and department standards.
Fitting (10%) Continually research and monitor new innovations and upgrades to all equipment; ensuring the health, safety and well-being of our student athletes. Supervise all fitting of protective equipment and shoes for the student athletes to ensure a safe and proper fitting. • Continually research and monitor new innovations and upgrades to all equipment, uniforms and apparel ensuring the health, safety and well-being of student athletes. Miscellaneous (15%) Maintain a computerized inventory system. Attend training sessions, conventions, meet with vendors, etc. to obtain knowledge and continuing education of equipment trends in college athletics. • Performing administrative duties, including the coordination and maintenance of the football equipment room, oversight of purchasing, and monitoring and overseeing the use of football equipment room facilities and equipment. • Assist in advancing the department's mission, vision, and strategic plan including its commitment to equity and diversity. • Other duties as assigned.
Required: Bachelor’s degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Knowledge of B1G rules and regulations. Strong interpersonal skills for developing positive working relationships with coaches, athletes and vendors. Experience with Nike Gameday ordering system. Fiscal responsibility managing the football equipment budget.
Preferred: Three or more years of experience working in Division 1 or professional football equipment. AEMA certified or working toward certification. Knowledge of JumpForward inventory system. Personal computer and related skills are necessary in this position.
