The University of North Georgia, a NCAA Division II member of the Peach Belt Conference, is currently accepting applications for a new head men’s basketball coach. The head men’s basketball coach will provide a clear vision for the program that is consistent with the traditions and expectations of the university, the athletic department and the men’s basketball program.
This position will be responsible for all phases of the men’s basketball program including recruitment of quality student-athletes, academic success of student-athletes, game preparation and strategy, supervision of assistant coaches, scheduling, attending meetings with alumni, enhancing public relations, organizing camps and clinics, fundraising, budget management, adherence to and compliance with all NCAA and Peach Belt Conference rules and regulations, and other general administrative duties. In addition, the head coach will be responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals, and mission of both the University and its intercollegiate athletics program.
Job Duties • Coach and administer a comprehensive men’s basketball program • Recruit athletically and academically-qualified Division II student-athletes • Organize, schedule, and conduct practices and competitions • Encourage a commitment to academic excellence • Manage a budget and fundraise for the program • Ensure program compliance with all college, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations • Perform all other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred
Minimum of seven years of men's basketball collegiate coaching experience, with head coaching experience strongly preferred
Proven ability to recruit successful student athletes
Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules
Thorough knowledge leading a men's basketball program
Excellent communication skills, and the ability to interact with a variety of groups and individuals in a higher education environment
Must have organizational and time management skills
