FILING DEADLINE: Midnight – March 18, 2019 THE POSITION Under general direction, Recreation Managers plan, organize, manage, and control the day-to-day activities of a Recreation and Community Services Division; coordinates assigned activities with other City departments, divisions and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Department Director. The Recreation Manager, a division head, is responsible for directing the day-to-day operation of a Recreation and Community Services Division. The candidate selected through this recruitment will implement general policy directives for the City's recreation programs. Recreation Manager responsibilities may also include, but not be limited to, management of program contracts in the Community Services Division, community based programs and implementation in aquatics, after school and summer services, senior services, work with community based organizations, managing the division budget, marketing. Additionally, this position coordinates outings and works with staff on the implementation of special events/projects, establishes in-service trainings to ensure proper customer service is provided at all locations, attends workshops, training seminars, and conferences as needed to stay informed about current recreation trends
THE REQUIREMENTS Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify for further consideration: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in recreation, education, physical education, public administration or a closely related field; and four years of management and administrative experience in a public agency recreation program. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two years.
