Reporting to the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, the Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach assists in designing and implementing strength and conditioning activities for the College’s 20 NCAA-II intercollegiate athletics teams as well as Cheer and Dance. As a member of the Jewell Community, the Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach is fully responsible for compliance with all College policies and procedures in addition to all applicable bylaws of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). At William Jewell College, Intercollegiate Athletics are a meaningful part of a student’s educational experience, and are considered to be a co-curricular activity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in all aspects of the William Jewell College Strength & Conditioning program.
Design, implement, and assess sport specific training programs for 3-5 assigned teams.
Effectively teach and demonstrate proper technique of exercises, lifts, and drills.
Supervise team workouts in Head Strength & Conditioning Coach’s absence.
Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the Athletic Performance facility.
Other related duties assigned by the Director of Athletics and the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required (exercise science related field preferred)
Working toward or already obtained a certification from an accredited strength and conditioning organization (CSCCa, NSCA, USAW, etc.).
Possess CPR/AED and First Aid certification
Experience working in a NCAA/NAIA 4-year college or university weight room with a variety of teams is preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and strength and conditioning related technology is encouraged.
Must Enroll/Successfully Complete 9 hours with minimum of 6 hours at the Graduate Level from an accredited institution.
Must Maintain a 3.0 GPA each term and cumulative
Ability to lift and carry 50 –75 pounds
Ability to withstand adverse weather conditions, i.e. extreme heat or cold
Early morning, late evening, and weekend work are required
