James Madison University, a Division I member of the NCAA and Colonial Athletic Association, is accepting applications for an Assistant Field Hockey Coach to work within a highly competitive program. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.
The responsibilities of the Assistant Field Hockey Coach include but are not limited to: coaching, daily instructions with the team, serving as the recruiting coordinator, player development, providing transportation of players to and from practice, overseeing academics of players, team travel and compliance with NCAA, CAA and JMU regulations. Additionally, the Assistant Field Hockey Coach will be responsible for team meal organization, team hotel reservations, film analysis, coding, scouting and presenting.
A bachelor’s degree is required. Candidates will have previous coaching/playing experience and the ability to recruit high level student-athletes at the Division I level. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills and will possess initiative and leadership. The desired candidate shall possess great work rate, integrity, positive emotion and pure passion for the game and for leading young women. The ability to guide and support James Madison University student-athletes in their quest for excellence-academically, athletically and socially as they prepare for productive and meaningful lives is essential. In addition, the ability to establish a good rapport and effective working relationships with student-athletes, parents, administrators, faculty, staff and the community is required. Division I or International playing and or coaching experience is a preferred.
