This is a full-time position with benefits for the 2019-20 academic school year. This position will be primarily working with the football student athletes.
This position assists academic advisors and learning specialists within Academic Services. Responsible for assisting staff with monitoring degree progress consistent with IU, Big Ten and NCAA rules and planning and carrying out a degree-oriented academic program. Monitors student-athlete academic performance, and communicates this performance to supervisor. Provides direct support for learning disabled and educationally disadvantaged student-athletes. Assists with developing, executing and evaluating comprehensive learning initiatives programs for student-athletes. Assists with oversight of D. Ames Shuel Academic Center. Assists with duties necessary for the operation of Academic Services.
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, student development, or a related field.
Ability to work with diverse populations of faculty, staff and students; demonstrated leadership, organizational and communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team; ability to deal effectively with very strong personalities; ability to organize large projects and to follow through to ensure projects are completed well and on time; must be a person of integrity with high educational standards and possess a solid commitment to academic integrity, the welfare of student-athletes, and full compliance with NCAA, Big Ten and institutional rules and regulations.
NOTE: Position requires incumbent to comply fully with all NCAA, Big Ten (or other conference) and Indiana University rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree. Experience in student services, higher education or intercollegiate athletics.
