This position is responsible to the Director of Soccer Operations for the development of a competitive soccer program within the guidelines of the NCAA, RMAC, and Colorado Mesa University. Includes all aspects of a collegiate soccer program; recruiting, scouting, budgeting, planning, organizing, scheduling, monitoring academic performance and promoting intercollegiate athletics. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Adhere to CMU Athletics Policies and Procedures and perform all duties required of a head coach. Oversee women’s soccer program. This includes supervision of assistant and / or graduate assistant coaches and student employees. Responsible for all oversight of scouting, recruitment of student athletes, monitoring academic progress of athletes, scheduling games, ensuring compliance with NCAA and RMAC conference rules or regulations and eligibility of players. Supervise and participate in the recruitment of student athletes. This includes interviewing, screening, assessment/evaluation, and meeting with coaches, counselors, principals, teachers and parents to facilitate the process. Plan and manage team travel such as time schedules, transportation by bus/vans, lodging accommodations, meal and accommodations, insurance coverage and schedules for games and practice. Ensure travel arrangements are within budget constraints and are safe for the players’ and coaches’ welfare. Supervise and manage the inventory of sports equipment. This involves the selection and purchase, reconditioning, checking standards and ensuring safety and accountability of physical assets. Oversee the budget for the program. Monitor and approve expenditures for area of responsibility. Supervise and manage the facility to facilitate practice. Coordinate the facility arrangements, ensure safety of equipment, practice field and building, and secure facilities at end of practices. Plan, organize and participate in practice and games. This involves athlete conditioning, planning sets, oversight of practices, review current rules and regulations, and participate in media coverage of events. Conduct coach clinics/seminars for assistant coaches. Supervise and manage summer programs for youth. Speak and participate in promotional activities and assist the Co-Directors of Athletics and Director of Soccer Operations in fundraising activities. Work with gifted athletes to promote their continued play in non-college entities. Speak at sports banquets. Work in liaison with community groups to encourage and foster their participation in the athletic activities or events. Serve on committees as deemed appropriate for district, conference or national level. Work in liaison with faculty, administrators, and staff to coordinate academic and athletic efforts and to share resources and ideas. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position reports to the Director of Soccer Operations and must subscribe to Colorado Mesa University principles governing Athletics.
