Thornton Athletics Student Life Center: The Thornton Center seeks candidates for an Athletic Student Services Graduate Assistant position. This GA position is part of a Young Professional Development Program that prepares young professionals for full time positions in the Academic Support profession. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Thornton Center operations. The individual in this position will be expected to learn all aspects of what is required to be a great academic staff member. The Thornton Center staff is committed to developing all skills needed to be a great professional in this field. By the end of the two-year GA experience, each GA will be able to: o Gain experience in our educational and mental health screener assessment program (ADVANCE) by assisting with the administration, scoring, evaluation, and reporting of screener results for all incoming student o Monitor and document student-athlete weekly academic progress for an assigned student caseload. o Assist with the eVOLve mentor program: hiring, online training portal, in person training, and supervision of a mentor team. o Gain a working knowledge of on campus departments: Student Disability Services, sports medicine and student health center. o Understand the importance of timely, effective communication with staff. o Understand proactive outreach to campus departments. o Effectively supervise student-athletes in study hall while maintaining a positive, effective learning environment for all students. o Gain a working knowledge of NCAA progress toward degree requirements for student-athletes and how they impact APR and GSR.
