Player Personnel Specialist/Administrative Assistant to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach
This position reports to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
Primary duties include coordinating specific aspects of monitoring student-athlete player development in areas of academic performance, student conduct, and student welfare. This position will provide daily monitoring of academic support to the Men’s Basketball student-athletes under the guidance of both Athletic Compliance and SAAS. Responsible to serve as liaison to both internal athletic department offices and campus constituencies regarding academic support and player conduct reporting.
Oversee study hall and other applicable academic monitoring needs during travel for away games. Serve as the men’s basketball contact for student-athlete service matters including student-athlete bills, housing, and conduct cases. Work with the office of student-athlete development on the creation and execution of a holistic personal and career development programming as well as community service, designed to improve leadership and promote the university mission.
Serves as the initial contact for the Boston College basketball office for alumni, parents, coaches, and other visitors. Provides direct administrative support to the Head Coach and assistant coaches and basketball staff members to facilitate efficient basketball operations. Duties include coverage of phones and the front desk, administrative support for camps, serving as a contact for basketball supporters including Hoop Club members, planning and organizing Hoop Club, alumni, and other events, and adherence to University and Division Operating procedures.
Position requires knowledge of reporting structure in the department and university as a whole to help students troubleshoot and determine the best course of action for various issues. Must be able to troubleshoot various problems and issues presented by external visitors and stakeholders. Makes decisions regarding the resolution of questions and problems presented to this position. Determines when to escalate situation and to whom for quick resolution.
Ability to make sound decisions quickly while exercising good judgement, taking into consideration University, NCAA, ACC policies and rules. Ability to respond to various concerns presented by student-athletes, staff, boosters, recruits, and other external groups in a professional manner and exercising discretion with confidential information.
These duties will be performed with adherence to ACC, NCAA Compliance standards as well as University and Athletics guidelines and operating procedures.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $42,400 to $53,000; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Minimum of three years of administrative experience. Prefer prior experience in athletics with an understanding of academic, compliance, and/or player development. Division I experience in basketball administration or operations strongly preferred.
Extended hours including night and weekend work will be required for this position, especially during the competition season. This position will be expected to travel with the team to away games and to work all home games.
