Essential Functions of the Position
The Director of Athletics and Dean of Wellness will be required to carry out these job functions:
Management of all programs, coaches and staff of the athletics department. Oversee management and staffing of student wellness center. Administer and assume ultimate accountability for overall budgets in athletics and the wellness center, including athletic scholarships. Establish priorities, develop strategic plans and set vision for programs. Monitor and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all NCAA, SSC, Title IX and institutional rules, regulations and policies. Integral involvement in athletic fundraising, working with Advancement staff on fundraising activities and alumni engagement. Serve on the President’s Cabinet and as liaison between Athletics Department and other areas of the college. Contributes to the success of the Athletics department by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College.
A Master’s Degree, a minimum of five years of experience in athletic leadership, and preference for coaching experience.
Strong record of professionalism, respect and integrity in dealings with staff, students, community and boosters.
Strong commitment to student welfare.
Documented success in athletic fundraising and donor relations.
Strong knowledge of current issues and best practices in higher education and intercollegiate athletics.
Thorough understanding of and experience with rules, policies and procedures of NCAA, SSC, Title IX, and state regulations as it pertains to athletic operations.
Experience with budget oversight and financial accountability.
Demonstrates a strong commitment to gender equity and ethnic diversity.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
