Direct all operations of the Performance Nutrition department including personnel management. Counsel athletes on optimal nutrition for exercise training (match nutrition to training phases and goals), competition, recovery from exercise, weight management, hydration, immunity, disordered eating, travel, and supplementation. Provide personalized meal and snack plans to promote achieving short- and long-term goals for athletic performance and good health. Communicate nutrition issues to appropriate Athletic Performance staff members and coaches. Chair Disordered Eating team. Assess and analyze dietary practices, body composition (including DEXA), and energy balance (intake and expenditure) of athletes in the context of athletic performance and health. Oversee all fueling stations (including satellite facilities) and smoothie bar. Education in food selection (grocery store tours, food storage) and food preparation (cooking classes). Develop and deliver nutrition education presentations, demonstrations, or events on various topics related to nutrition for performance in all sports. Evaluate nutritional supplements, including herbal supplements, for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy; monitors use of appropriate supplementation. Work with training table chefs on meal menus for student-athletes on campus and increase attendance at meals. Provide nutritional guidance to all sports regarding student-athlete nutrition for home and away contests and practices. Position may include travel with football.
Bach deg in clinical nutrition, food & nutrition, or related area, and 6 yrs exp. Masters + 4yr exp preferred. Completion of didactic pgm in dietetics & Supv practice pgm approved by Commission on Accreditation. CSSD preferred. DEXA certification pref.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
