The Assistant Director/Academic Coordinator will assist the Associate Athletic Director with the day-to-day support services of the Rocket Student-Athlete Academic center. The Assistant Director/Academic Coordinator will serve as the Director of Football Academics and also oversee academic support services for additional sports teams assigned by the Associate Athletic Director. The Assistant Director/Academic Coordinator will work closely with student-athletes in the review of class scheduling, tutoring, or study skill needs and will be responsible for communicating with appropriate coaching staff regarding student-athlete advising, academic and athletic eligibility issues. Other responsibilities would include the following but not limited to only these tasks: coordinator and communicating with campus offices, college advisers, department offices, student affairs, office of Provost, coordinator of athletic eligibility, and the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance to help ensure student-athlete progress-toward-degree completion according to NCAA, MAC and University of Toledo guidelines.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Three to five years of experience in the area of student development, teaching, collegiate athletics and/or student-athlete academic support services.
At least one year of supervision.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and knowledge of NCAA rules/regulations.
Written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff and university constituents.
Ability to multi-task, problem solved and make decisions in a fast paced environment.
Exercise sound judgment and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and accordance to FERPA guidelines.
Establish and interact collaboratively and effectively with staff, student-athletes, coaches, campus community and administrators.
Develop a learning support system individualized to specific student-athletes.
Work evenings and weekends.
