About Beat the Streets Wrestling
Beat the Streets Wrestling New York City, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is a dynamic youth development and sports organization that aims to foster the holistic development of New York City's under-served youth through the sport of wrestling. We do it by providing free training and instruction in amateur wrestling in all five boroughs. BTS serves over 3,000 youth a year, with the vast majority qualifying for free and reduced lunch. While not all of our participants are in financial need, all of them need something productive to do with their time. Through a closely-tied partnership with the New York City Department of Education and Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL), we operationally and financially support the boys and girls varsity wrestling leagues in the New York City high schools. We then partner with individual schools and community-based organizations to offer a standalone Junior League which serves middle school ages and below. We are the only source of middle school wresting in the city. Additionally, we operate year-round training centers which offer a safe haven, socialization, and academic support and encouragement to youth city-wide. We operate and financially support atte...ndance at summer wrestling camps, clinics spread throughout the year, and local, regional, national, and international competition opportunities. Through all of these activities, we develop self-sufficient, more capable boys and girls who positively impact their families, their peers, and their communities.
