The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach / Recruiting coordinator. This is a contract, full-time position with targeted salary range of $71,500.00-75,000.00/year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. Responsibilities and duties are as follows: assist the Head Coach of Volleyball with planning, development and administration of all phases of the Women’s Volleyball program, including preparation and management of the budget, practice and game scheduling, travel arrangements and cost management, procurement of supplies/equipment, recruitment and selection of student-athletes and managers, interaction with support services and involvement in appropriate public relations/fundraising and promotional activities, and perform event coaching duties to be designated by the Volleyball Head Coach.

The candidate must have a strong work ethic, be organized, detail orientated, proactive, and self-motivated. Candidate must be committed to a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for the student-athlete, and have the ability to understand how to guide, teach, and communicate with collegiate student-athletes—must have comprehension of the demands placed on a Division I student-athlete—both in the classroom and in the competitive arena—and the willingness to help them succeed in both. Emphasis is placed on the commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of UCLA, the Pacific-12 Conference and the NCAA. Primary job duties include managing the recruiting, scouting opponents and having a strong presence in the gym to motivate and connect with players. Candidate will serve as the program primary recruiter by creating a strategy through scouting while organizing the talent pool in a contingent manner. Candidate must possess the ability to work compatibly and cooperatively with the staff and personnel in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and other University units. Required qualifications include: bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and a record of compliance in this area, fiscal management, effective communication skills with student-athletes, administrators, peers and the general public, coaching experience at the Division I level and ability to select, recruit and train elite volleyball athletes. Preferred qualifications include: Recruiting Coordinator at the Division I level.
