The position of Director of Multimedia Integration will be responsible for several crucial aspects to sustaining the success of the University of Oregon athletics department. Responsible for creating and executing creative/branding, digital, and social media strategy for Oregon Athletics, including the following: guiding their team to designing and executing creative content to drive and enhance revenue through fan engagement, brand awareness, and communications and advertising strategy. Develop and execute strategies, in collaboration with other high level athletic department employees, resulting in marketing campaigns which will highlight the athletic department.
Responsible for the growth and development of influential media platforms as well as the enhancement of new social media trends (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and opportunities to situate the Oregon athletic program in the optimal position to recruit and sign elite student-athletes to letters of intent.
The Director of Multimedia Integration will champion the Department of Athletics’ digital communications initiatives in order to extend custom content across multiple platforms, including, but not limited to web, mobile, social, video, etc. This position will be highly visible and scrutinized if errors are committed or differ from the department message. . This position will assist with the creation of electronic and broadcast materials, web pages, and new and social media. This position will oversee the student graphic design team. In addition, this position will work strategically with other university offices to coordinate strategic digital communications campus-wide and leave a distinct footprint for the University of Oregon and its athletic department. Maintain the constant evolution of digital marketing specifically related to social media to keep the athletic department relevant in social spaces for high school track and field student-athletes.
Must maintain confidentiality regarding strategic campaigns with athletic department’s apparel provider, along with sensitive recruiting information.
Additional Expectations of the Position: • Obtain UO driver’s certification within 90 days of employment and maintain throughout employment with the Athletic Department.
Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Pac-12 Conference and the NCAA.
Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s degree. • Two years of experience working in graphic design for a professional sports or intercollegiate athletics department. • One year experience in creating multimedia content that has been integrated across multiple platforms. • Demonstrated strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
Professional Competencies • Excellent verbal, written and creative communication skills. • Candidates with experience serving the needs of diverse populations are strongly desired. • Extensive knowledge of new media, social media and some experience working with web-based content. • Ability to work well in a group and working around events. • Ability to build relationships with outside (non-campus affiliated) companies and organizations is a must.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience working in a design or marketing department within a Division I, “Power 5” conference-affiliated athletic department. • Demonstrated understanding of advertising strategy. • Experience supervising student employees.
