The University of Virginia Department of Athletics is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing to provide support for the department's athletic programs. The Strategic Marketing and Fan Engagement unit serves to generate revenue, maximize attendance and create an excellent game day environment at each of our venues.
The ideal candidate will have experience assisting in the development of creative and innovative promotional ideas for the department; utilizing email and social media marketing strategies to internal and external constituencies; developing and implementing community outreach programs; implementing programs designed to promote and increase University student attendance at home athletic events; providing input for the department's official website as needed; and implementing and fulfilling sponsorship obligations.
A Bachelor's degree is required, a Master's degree is preferred. Marketing and promotions experience is required, preference will be given to candidates with college athletics experience. The ability to write proposals and scripts and describe ideas, and/or plans clearly and effectively to coaches, administrators and other department staff members in written format is a must. The successful candidate will also have the ability to develop and initiate unique ideas and graphic design projects while working these plans into the marketing strategy of assigned sports programs, including women's basketball.
Preference will be given to candidates with a major in Marketing, Administration or related field and 2-4 years of Athletics marketing, promotions, or development experience. Intermediate knowledge of computers and software such as Adobe PhotoShop is also preferred.
