The Head Women's Soccer Coach is responsible for the overall organization, direction, supervision and administration of Mansfield University's NCAA Division II Women's Soccer program. Duties include: recruiting student athletes within the rules and philosophy of the NCAA, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and Mansfield University; emphasizing academic priorities to student athletes; organizing/conducting practices and games; recruiting, directing, supervising, and evaluating assistant coaches; fundraising; marketing and promotion; game management; performing related administrative tasks; and maintaining appropriate communication with students, other coaches, University staff, parents, and alumni. The Head Women's Soccer Coach will be expected to work closely with the Office of Admissions in the recruitment of qualified students to Mansfield University.
Essential Functions: Communicate and work effectively with a wide variety of constituents, including alumni, friends, parents, faculty, campus staff and the local community. Must have the ability to relate to and communicate with prospective high school and college student athletes. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. Working nights and weekends is required. Must be able to perform physical tasks necessary for preparation of weight room, practices, and competition, including lifting and carrying over 50 pounds.Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Minimum of three years collegiate soccer coaching experience or five years high school head soccer coaching experience.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Must be able to demonstrate a proven successful coaching system and philosophy.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Communicate and work effectively with a wide variety of constituents, including alumni, friends, parents, faculty, campus staff and the local community.
Experience and/or responsibility in working camps and clinics as a fundraiser.
Ability to organize a comprehensive NCAA women's soccer program.
Demonstrated ability to successfully recruit student-athletes.
Must be committed to a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for student athletes as well as the importance of good citizenship both on and off the field.
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity.
Have a general knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and be committed to their implementation and observance.
Demonstration, through past accomplishments and behaviors, of the ability to support Mansfield University's principles and values of Character, Scholarship, Culture, Service and the University's strong student-centered vision and mission.
Previous soccer head coaching experience at the NCAA DII or DIII level. (Preferred)
Formalized training through the USSF, the United Soccer Coaches or comparable international qualifications. (Preferred)
Knowledge of or experience with budgeting, travel planning, and fundraising. (Preferred)
Computer skills (Excel, Word). (Preferred)
Current possession of certification in CPR and First Aid. (Preferred)
